The Clemente Signage

KUDOS Design Collaboratory partnered with the Clemente through DesigNYC for identity signage in conjunction with its re-inauguration. The Clemente is a Puerto Rican and Latinx cultural space rooted in the Lower East Side. The Clemente connects and co-creates with contemporary artists, cultural workers, and small arts organizations by offering subsidized studios, exhibition, rehearsal, office, and venue spaces; and produces their programming in a spirit of responsiveness, heritage conversation, and provocative collaboration.

The logo was translated into signage on its historic grated entryway, and expanded into graphics that lined the windows with bold color blocking and typography. The windows ensure full blackout coverage over the black box theater on the inside, while imbuing contemporary sensibilities and movement to the outside of the historic building.
